Inspiration from unexpected people. [12 Nov 2009|05:01pm] ittimin [ mood | inspired ] I had a conversation with one of my employees at work today which inspired me to go find some actual sewing patterns rather than make it up as I go along. My sewing generally turns out fine (though I hate doing sleeves). I was put off using patterns by my mum trying to teach me to sew with one when I was little and me finding it horrendously long winded and dull because I couldn't see why all these stages were necessary for the final product (I though it could be done more simply - which it can to be fair...). However it turns out that a skin-head guy on my team, who is genrerally into long distance mountain biking, has a hidden passion for sewing. And he thinks if I make something using a pattern I will be inspired by how much better things are when done properly. And I do have a 1920s event in march that I have no kit for... He also lent me the graphic novel of 'squee!' today. i like this guy. : ) post comment

Now I see this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/wear/8357321.stm - admittedly the offence was in June but the details are a tad shocking An 11 year old boy rapes a disabled 9 year old boy! ... and it could potentially have been avoided if social services at Sunderland Council hadn't ignored a psychiatrist's advice. post comment

.... [12 Nov 2009|04:33pm] northernmonkey [ mood | happy ] Hi! So things. Well... Mo passed his driving test for he are clevers. The inaugural car ride was to Lidl. Oh yes. The second drive was all the way to Kingston (far) to see one of Mo's colleagues play with his orchestra. Awesome. So very long since I've been to a recital. Is quite inspiring. Grieg's Piano Concerto by Grieg and a spot of Shostakovitch. Very good. Monday is Alice in Chains. Rather excited. Need to gen up on the new album. Next weekend, me, Ree and Em are off to the wilds of Scarborough for a drunken girlie weekend. We may be joined by the ever lovely Tarnie, although this is just a rumour. Honey Bee Cottage Prettyful. Also, sturgeonface? [clicky] Um, yeah. Apart from that.... out for giggages this evening. And cider, although that's a given. Tomorrow = hangover Saturday = workings. possibly also hungover.
